Carmen Maxwell is a passionate follower of Jesus and has devoted the last thirty years to discipling the inner-city women and teen girls of her hometown of Bryan, College Station. As the assistant director for Save Our Streets Ministries, Carmen has overseen the SOS teen girls’ ministry and the women’s ministry for over three decades. She took troubled girls into her home for 12 years and created and led mentoring programs for the homeless, pregnant, and inner-city youth of our community. Carmen has led sexual abuse retreats, women's and teen girls’ retreats, sexual integrity programs, summer programs, job training, and leadership training classes. She has also created cross-cultural training and an intense discipleship program to prepare volunteers for inner-city ministry. She is married to Steve Maxwell, with whom she shares two children, Cathy and Mike, and two beautiful grandchildren.
